Jai Christopher Cook
President & Treasurer
Jai started as a director in the Mauser Foundation in 2001. In the subsequent years he funded Native American sweat lodges in Marin County, attended numerous green work shops and lectures, helped fund a recycling non profit based in Seattle and spearheaded the purchase of land in Costa Rica which would ultimately become the Mauser EcoHouse Artist Residency. He currently travels to Costa Rica three to four times a year to help with all aspects of the residency. As President since 2023, he has brought radical change and accountability to the foundation and hopes to chart a more sustainable path into the future through art, community and environmental awareness.
Professionally, Jai has worked as a massage therapist and healer in the Health and Wellness field for over twenty years based in Los Angeles, CA. He's proficient in numerous modalities including Deep Tissue, NMRT, and emotional release. He has studied and taken courses in schools in San Franciso, Thailand, Los Angeles and Eastern Europe. His approach is versatile and tailored to the specific needs of each client.

Heather M. Cook
Director & EcoHouse Manager
Heather, a passionate advocate for sustainability, has dedicated her career to environmental conservation and community development. With a background in Chinese Medicine and nearly 20 years of experience as an Herbalist in LA, she brings a unique perspective to her work.
In 2001, Heather became a director of the Foundation, where she has been instrumental in promoting eco-friendly initiatives. Her love for the natural beauty of Costa Rica blossomed in 2006, culminating in her move to manage the EcoHouse in 2017. Inspired by her time at the Can Serrat artist residency in Spain in 2007, she transformed the EcoHouse into an artist residency in 2018.
Heather's extensive travels to China, Europe, and Central/South America have enriched her understanding of global sustainability practices. She is fluent in English and Spanish, holding Costa Rican Residency.
As the manager of the EcoHouse, Heather wears many hats, overseeing the artist residency program, hosting resident artists, and selecting grant recipients. She takes pride in creating a welcoming environment for artists and spearheading initiatives like the Foster Animals program, The Seed Project, and Open Air Art Walk.
In her free time, Heather enjoys working in the garden and is currently writing a book on the diverse flora at the EcoHouse.

Rose M. Cook
Vice President
In 1998, Rose was one of the founding Incorporators of the MHWN Foundation. Since incorporation of the Foundation, Rose has consistently been instrumental in organizing and implementing the Foundation’s activities for several decades. As Vice President, Rose reviews scholarships, records Artist Residents payments, facilitates the annual meetings, and provides advice and governance of the Foundation’s efforts to further our vision to honor Doc. Mauser’s legacy in environmental sustainable operations. Rose is married to her husband, William, and together they have two children, Jai and Heather, who both hold officer positions within the Foundation.
In addition to her contributions to the Foundation, Rose was employed as a Registered Nurse at several metro Detroit hospitals, and as an Area Educator for several senior retirement communities for over four decades. Currently, Rose is retired and resides in Southern California.
William T. Cook
Director/ MBA/ LEED AP
William (Bill) currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Mauser Harmony With Nature Foundation. Prior to his current role, he played a pivotal role in establishing and directing the Foundation's diverse range of scholarships, seminars, and grants that promote environmentally sustainable practices from 1998 to 2023.
Bill is married to his wife, Rose, and together they have two children, Jai and Heather, who both hold officer positions within the Foundation. In addition to his contributions to the Foundation, Bill served honorably as a veteran of the United States Navy. He also holds an MBA degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, obtained in 1973, and enjoyed a successful career spanning over four decades in the real estate management and development industry. Currently, William is retired and resides in Southern California.
Kayla Salazar
Director
Kayla, the new board member, brings a range of skills and experiences. She's a skilled massage therapist, passionate artist, and culinary enthusiast. Kayla's dedication to sustainability was evident in her efforts at the EcoHouse. Since moving to California, she established a successful massage practice and launched a handmade jewelry line. Her talents, dedication to wellness, and commitment to sustainability make her a valuable asset to the board of directors
